Captain Steve's Fishing Lodge
~ Freshwater Fishing ~

There is crystal clear fresh water everywhere around our lodge. Fish through schools of salmon, trout and big Northern Pike.

Catch big fish on light tackle, or fly fish with two pound test leaders for Arctic Grayling on a hike-in trip to a secluded lake.

  • King Salmon chinook (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha)
    ~ frequent 40 & 50 pounders, to over 80
  • Silver Salmon coho (Oncorhynchus kisutch)
  • Sockeye Salmon kokonee (Oncorhynchus nerka)
  • Chum Salmon (Oncorhynchus keta)
  • Pink Salmon (Oncorhynchus gorbuscha)
  • Steelhead Salmon
  • Rainbow Trout
  • Dolly Vardon Trout
  • Northern Pike
  • Arctic Grayling

Ninilchik, Alaska offers freshwater fishing year round.

  • Spring (fly fishing, spinning, trolling)
  • Summer (fly fishing, spinning, trolling)
  • Fall (fly fishing, spinning, trolling)
  • Winter (lake ice fishing)

Salmon are caught everywhere at some time of the year; we guide freshwater fishing in local streams and lakes as well as the Kasiloff River for big Chinook Salmon.

Ice fishing for big trout and pike can be a good time in the dead of winter, along with local cross country or downhill skiing.

Alaska's biggest fish!

Captain Steve knows when, where & how to catch them.
